Extraversion
How energised you are by stimulation, people, and the outer world.
About the Extraversion type
Extraversion measures the orientation of energy. High-extraverted people draw energy from people and stimulation. Low-extraverted (introverted) people draw energy from solitude and depth. The dimension is independent of social skill — quiet people can be excellent socially, and outgoing people can be terrible at it.
Most people sit in the middle (ambiverted). The extremes are noisier, but the middle is where most actual lives happen.
Strengths
- Energising in groups
- Comfortable taking initiative
- Quick to form connections
- Communicates ideas with warmth
Challenges
- Talks first, listens later
- Discomfort with sustained solitude
- Energy levels can dominate quieter partners
- May confuse activity with substance
In love & relationships
Highly extraverted partners want a partner who shows up to the world with them. They struggle with very introverted partners unless both can name the difference and design around it.
At work
Sales, leadership, teaching, performing arts, hospitality. Less fit for solo deep work.
Growth direction
Practise quiet for one daily window. The clarity available in silence is harder to reach when conversation is always available.
