The Investigator
Wants to understand, fears being depleted by demands they can't meet.
About the Type 5 type
Fives observe before participating. They build expertise as a way of being prepared, and they conserve energy because they fear running out. They're often the quietly brilliant person in the corner who knows more than they're saying.
Core fear: being incompetent or overwhelmed. Core desire: to be capable, understanding. The growth direction is moving from observer to participant — taking the risk of being seen mid-thought.

In love & relationships
Fives love through chosen attention. They want a partner who respects their need for solitude and doesn't take it as rejection. They show love through presence-when-it-matters more than constant availability.
At work
Research, software, philosophy, the sciences, writing, library/archival work. Anywhere depth and independence are the job.
Growth direction
Engage before you're fully ready. Some understanding only arrives through participation — and observation alone reaches a ceiling.
