The Advocate
Quiet, principled, and quietly seeing right through you.
About the INFJ type
INFJs lead with introverted intuition paired with extraverted feeling — they read patterns in people the way an INTJ reads patterns in systems. They often know how a conversation will land before it lands, and they're frequently right.
INFJs are the rarest type and often feel out of step with the rooms they're in. Their challenge is the door-slam — the moment when the quietly-tolerated grows intolerable and they cut someone off cleanly.
Strengths
- Reads emotional undercurrents others miss
- Holds long-range moral vision
- Writes and speaks with unusual depth
- Loyal to a chosen few with rare intensity
Challenges
- Holds in conflict until it ruptures
- Burnout from absorbing other people's emotional weather
- Can mistake intensity for compatibility
- Hard to know — many people only meet the public mask
In love & relationships
INFJs love deeply but slowly. They want a partner who values depth over breadth, conversation over performance, and is comfortable with a person who needs significant alone time to feel alive.
At work
Counselling, writing, design, ethics, the arts, mission-driven nonprofit work, teaching. Avoid environments that demand constant social performance with no recovery time.
Growth direction
Speak the small disagreement when it's small. The door-slam exists because tiny upsets stayed silent for too long.
